Terrorists Have No Religion: Aamir Khan

Ever since the ghastly terror attack has taken over Mumbai, Aamir Khan is keeping himself updated over the issue and the scenes of blasts and the news of over hundred people dying have really rendered Aamir Khan heart-broken, angry and helpless.

He poured his feelings over his blog writing,”My heartfelt condolences to the families of persons killed and taken hostage. I was feeling sick in the stomach when the fire broke out at the Taj. What would the people caught inside be going through. The fire fighters were doing their best but my imagination was running wild and I was feeling helpless watching other people trapped in the rooms adjoining the fire.”

Aamir also attacked the political parties kept condemning the ATS investigating the bomb blasts at Malegaon. Aamir says, “My heartfelt condolences to the family of the brave officers of the Mumbai Police who lost their lives leading from the front to take on these terrorists. Especially Hemant Karkare of the ATS who in the recent past was being targeted by various political parties for the work that he was doing. When will these politicians realize and admit that terrorists HAVE NO RELIGION. Terrorists are not Hindu or Muslim or Christian. They are not people of religion or God. They are people who have gone totally sick in their head and have to be dealt with in that manner. Hemant Karkare is an example of a brave officer who gave his life in the line of duty.”

Aamir further wrote, “At this moment I pray that the brave officers of the Mumbai Police, the Indian Army, Navy, the NSG and the various other security forces dealing with the situation are able to end this crisis as soon as possible. If it had just been a matter of simply fighting the terrorists the security forces would have dealt with it sooner, but here of course the situation is extremely complicated with many innocent lives at stake. The fact that the locations are huge hotels with multiple floors, hundreds of rooms, many corridors, staff quarters, work spaces, entries, exits etc, and have innocent guests still in there, have made the task very difficult and delicate.”

“I dread to think of how various political parties are now going to try and use this tragedy to further their political careers.” he fears.

“At least now they should learn to not divide people and instead become responsible leaders. An incident such as this really exposes how ill-equipped we are as a society as far as proper leaders go. We desperately need young, dynamic, honest, intelligent and upright leaders, who actually care for the country,” cautions Aamir Khan.

No Sequel for DON, No time for SRK

The latest buzz is that the much anticipated 'Don' sequel may not happen at all. Reportedly all the lead actors have no time for the film.

It was rumoured that Farhan Akhtar would start working on 'Don 2' in 2008, but then King Khan had other films to shoot for.

The plan then was for a mid 2009 shoot but this seems unlikely.

Priyanka Chopra the heroine of the film says, "I think the sequel is a little far now. I don't think it will start soon. Everyone involved in the project is pretty busy now I think with other work."

A source has revealed that Farhan is busy with 'Luck By Chance' in which he is acting and also with his next directorial film 'Voice From The Sky'. That's why as of now 'Don 2' is not starting.

Looks like after 'Rock on', Farhan has more interest in an acting career.

The source adds, "Shah Rukh too is very tied up now. He has to look after the promotions of his own production 'Billoo Barber', then he will do Karan Johar's 'My Name is Khan' and then move over to his another production 'Happy New Year' which Farah Khan will direct.

He is also busy with his animation film 'Ravan'. He does not have time for 'Don 2' at the moment but yes as everyone knows Shah Rukh is ready to act in the sequel."

So as of now it seems there are no hopes for the return of the Don!

Rakhi Sawant: Shradha is a boyfriend chor

The fire brand Rakhi Sawant has openly accused TV actress Shradha Shrama of stealing her boyfriend of four years Abhishek Awasthi. For the first time, since this war broke out, Rakhi seemed to favour her ex-boyfriend Abhishek and blamed the 'other woman' for the breakup.

Speaking to a national Hindi news channel during her birthday party celebrations at a restaurant in Oshiwara, Rakhi when questioned said, "Shradha Sharma is a boyfriend chor. She stole Abhishek from me.

She used to wear skin tight outfits at the gym where both of them were training together. She seduced Abhishek by her hot and revealing outfits.

Since I was busy with my shows and was traveling a lot, we were not able to spend much time together. Abhishek was also busy shooting for his serial and we could barely speak to each other, " said Rakhi.

"He must have got carried away by her short dresses, " said Rakhi sort of defending her former beau and adding that Shradha wears such short revealing clothes that any man would get distracted.

It was recently reported that Abhishek fell in love with Shradha at Gold's Gym at Four Bungalows where the duo used to meet everyday.

However, Rakhi is in no mood to forgive Abhishek and take him back. "Even if he comes back to me, I don't want him in my life again. I hope God teaches him a lesson for dumping me, " she said.

Aamir shocked, heartbroken, helpless and angry

Aamir Khan has been watching television since the terror attacked unfolded on Mumbai since 26th November late evening. Aamir, giving his reactions in his blog, states that seeing various locations in Mumbai turning into a war zone was shocking and heart breaking for him.

Expressing his feelings Aamir says, "My heartfelt condolences to the families of persons killed and taken hostage. I was feeling sick in the stomach when the fire broke out at the Taj.

What would the people caught inside be going through. The fire fighters were doing their best but my imagination was running wild and I was feeling helpless watching other people trapped in the rooms adjoining the fire."

Aamir has also opened a direct attack at the political parties who had till recent times condemning the ATS that was investigating the Malegaon bomb blasts.

Aamir says, "My heartfelt condolences to the family of the brave officers of the Mumbai Police who lost their lives leading from the front to take on these terrorists.

Especially Hemant Karkare of the ATS who in the recent past was being targeted by various political parties for the work that he was doing. When will these politicians realize and admit that terrorists HAVE NO RELIGION.

Big B slept with gun under pillow last night

Amitabh Bachchan has pulled out his revolver many a times on screen. This time he has pulled out the revolver again, but not to shoot anyone on screen but to defend himself and have a safe sleep.

He says, “Last night, as the events of the terror attack unfolded in front of me I did something for the first time and one that I had hoped never ever to be in a situation to do.

Before retiring for the night, I pulled out my licensed .32 revolver, loaded it and put it under my pillow. For a very disturbed sleep," the megastar wrote on his blog.

"My pain has been the sight and plight of my innocent and vulnerable and completely insecure countrymen, facing the wrath of this terror attack. And my anger has been at the ineptitude of the authorities that have been ordained to look after us," Big B expressed in his blog.

He further says, He salutes people who have laid down their lives for us. I can only but salute them and respect their sincerity in the call of duty."

Bachchan was disgruntled over the cliche "spirit of Mumbai" which he said people were using to cover the traumatic experiences that the merry city underwent in recent years.

Bachchan says he salutes the people who have laid down their lives to save others. He says he respects their sincerity in the call of duty. Bachchan says he bows before the ‘spirit of Mumbai’ and wishes this spirit never ends.

Madhuri’s Hit Song Choli Ke Peeche Is Now In Slumdog Millionaire

A R Rahman currently in the charts for his haunting ballads “Tu Muskura” and “Tu Meri Dost Hai” in Salman-Katrina starring Yuvvraaj is very happy about the international sucess of Danny Boyle’s flick Slumdog Millionaire (SM).

He says, “The success means something positive for Indian tourism. It is brought Indian to the cultural map again”.

Though Pyarelal, the surviving half of the legendary Laxmikant-Pyarelal duo do not know yet, but Subhash Ghai knows the big secret. The controversial chart buster “Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai” which Laxmi-Pyare composed for Subhash Ghai’s Khalnayak is now part of Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire.

A R Rahman says, “The song fitted the mood of the movie. It represents that period in the early 1990s. The colour, the swirl and the frenetic pace. So I have re recorded it in the same two voices Alka Yagnik and Ila Arun, though in a totally re worked form”.

The song will feature in the Slumdog soundtrack when it releases in December. Why is the soundtrack being released after release of the movie? A R Rahman having to live down the not unfairly earned reputation of being tardy in delivering the complete score. He sheepishly says, “As usual we took a little more time on it than we thought we needed to produce the album properly. The soundtrack is being released on 12 December”.

He is very excited by the impact that his sound in Slumdog Millionaire have made on Westerners. He says, “They released it on a small scale and are gradually increasing the prints. Slumdog releases in America next month. I will be in the USA for the promotion”.

Besides the background score, A R Rahman has done four songs in Slumdog Millionaire. He says, “I have also collaborated with the rap artiste Maya. We co wrote a song called Oh Saya. She wrote the English lyrics.

There is also a version of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s Aaj Ki Raat in the soundtrack”.
SM is A R Rahman’s second big Western movie score after Shekhar Kapoor’s The Golden Age. He shares, “But that was a period movie, a genre that I have been unconsciously associated with the most. Slumdog Millionaire is contemporary”.

The year has been plush with projects for Rahman. They year has been plush with projects for Rahman. He says, “I have worked with three generations of directors, and in as many continents. I can tell what they like and not like. Working with Abbas Tyrewala in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was rewarding experience. Yes, I will be doing Abbas’s next. I am as proud of Pappu Can’t Dance Saala as Tu Muskura”.

Bebo steals Deepika’s pie?

There are some, who aim for the stars and reach the moon, and then there are some who aim for the stars and make sure to reach there... and our Kareena Kapoor belongs to the latter lot.

The lady who lost to Deepika Padukone the chance of working with beau Saif in Imtiaz Ali’s film, has made sure to be a part of Saif’s next project with Sriram Raghavan. Kareena Kapoor will be seen romancing her Saif in Raghavan’s spy thriller Agent Vinod . Saif plays the title role and Kareena, his love interest.

Reportedly, Deepika was the first choice for the female lead in Agent Vinod but it seems Kareena was in no mood to take yet another defeat from the young star. However, director Raghavan explains that he never approached Deepika for the film. But yes he is keen to work with Kareena for the same.

Ever since Agent Vinod was announced, Bebo was keen on bagging the role and made sure that Deepika doesn’t get away with her sweety pie this time. Perhaps the lady just wants to be with Saif at all times, at work and otherwise and keep his attention solely on her. We all are aware of Saif’s Casanova ways, aren’t we?

When asked, S Raghavan confirmed, “I haven’t yet signed her but hope to do that soon. I can give more details only by December end.” The film will have two leading ladies – an Indian (Kareena) and a foreign actress. The film will go on the floors in March 2009. Apart from this, Saifeena will be seen together in Karan Johar’s next.

Akshay Kumar Rocks !!! Title Song (Chandni Chowk To China)

Movie Review "OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE!" - (IndiaFM - Taran Adarsh)

Now here's a chor who robs just about everything -- car, TV, music system, crockery, artefacts, furniture, even dry fruits, also a pomeranian. Whatever he can lay his hands on. Dibakar Banerjee's OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! is, reportedly, straight out of real life. A conman who gave sleepless nights to many a cop in Delhi.

A couple of summers ago, Shaad Ali's BUNTY AUR BABLI focussed on two thieves, who went on a robbing spree, sporting a different guise every time they played the con game. OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! traces the journey of a teenager who grew up in one of those crowded bylanes of Delhi and slowly and gradually took to the world of crime.

Set in Delhi, like Dibakar's debut vehicle KHOSLA KA GHOSLA, OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! has its heart in the right place and that's made abundantly clear 15 minutes into the film. But the problem is its waferthin storyline. Things get repetitive after a point.

It tells the story of Lucky [Abhay Singh], whose modus operandi is to outsmart people, chowkidars and policemen with his sharp mind and wit. He is an aspiring individual who loves the good things in life and is generally enamoured by the lifestyles of the rich and affluent Delhi families.

OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! traces Lucky's journey from a middle class boy to a popular thief.

OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! starts off really well. The teenage years of Lucky, his relationship with his father, his first crush, his friends... the seeds are sown rightly. But once Lucky starts committing one crime after another, the story stagnates. There's no dramatic twist in the tale and that is its biggest flaw.

Gangster films with Mumbai flavour are restricted to Mumbai/Maharashtra mainly. Similarly, a film like OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! has its share of limitations because you can't expect the film to find universal acceptance due to its Delhi-centric theme and flavour.

Despite the shortcomings, there's no denying that Dibakar Banerjee is a director with potential. He has been faithful to the material, making the goings-on look believable. There's not much scope for music in the film, although Dibakar should've played the title track at all significant points throughout the film.

Abhay Deol excels in a role that offers him ample scope to display histrionics. From a gawky youngster in SOCHA NA THA to a conman in OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE!, Abhay has only evolved with the passage of time. Paresh Rawal is magnificent yet again. He gets to portray three diverse roles and he lives up to the demands of the script. He's terrific as the shrewd and calculating doctor.

Neetu Chandra makes her presence felt in an enterprise that doesn't really belong to her. Archana Puransingh is fantastic and compliments Paresh beautifully. The actor enacting the role of Abhay's friend is competent.

On the whole, OYE LUCKY! LUCKY OYE! is a well-executed enterprise, which has its share of limitations. At the box-office, the film caters to the Northern audience mainly -- Delhi and Punjab specifically. Besides North, the plexes in Mumbai should fare slightly better.

Bollywood expresses anger over Mumbai attack

Bollywood is in deep shock and Amitabh Bachchan, the shahenshah of Bollywood is quite stirred. He has expressed his anger through his blog:

The financial and the city of India, Mumbai is bleeding. In between the Bollywood has expressed the anger and the deep shock over the terror attack.

The industry people also appealed for sanity and called for unity after one of the biggest terrorist strikes rattled the country's financial and dream city.

Amitabh Bachchan the king of Bollywood is quite shaken and has expressed his anger through his blog. "Terrible! Terrible situation! Mumbai under terrorist attack! Several locations bombed and terrorist firing all over the city. Major hotels under siege. Taj hotel battle going on inside the hotel."

The Black Friday director Anurag Kashyap, who is in Goa to attend to IFFI said, "I don't have words to describe my feelings. It seems unreal to me almost like a film. I don't know who are they and why they have resorted to such ruthlessness."

"It is unbelievable. Obviously Mumbai will bounce back but it has been hurt badly and it will take time to heal," he adds further.

Reel for real? Terror attacks resemble film plots

The terror attacks in Mumbai seem to bear an uncanny resemblance with some of the movies, including the recent A Wednesday and Die Hard.

The terror strikes in Mumbai have killed at least 110 people and injured over 313 others, bringing to people's minds movies based on similar plots.
The Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher starrer A Wednesday, which revolves around a fateful Wednesday when a man (Naseer) calls up retiring commissioner of police Prakash Rathod (Anupam) and tells him that he has planted bombs in five places around the city, brings alive the panic and havoc shown in the film.
The terror strikes also resemble the Aamir Khan starrer Baazi (1995) and the first instalment of Bruce Willis starrer Die Hard (1988) in which innocent people are taken hostage.
Ram Gopal Verma's action thriller Contract that released July 18 had unintentionally given a kind of preview of the modus operandi used by terrorists in the July 26 Ahmedabad bombings. The film shows terrorists planning low-intensity strikes first and then bombing the hospitals where the injured are taken to - just as it uncannily happened in the actual bombing 10 days later.
Other movies that have been based on terrorism in Bollywood have been Mission Istanbul, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Hijack, Black & White, Fanaa, Black Friday, Mission Kashmir, Dil Se, Sarfarosh, Roja and Bombay among others.
Govind Nihalani's Drohkal, Ayesha Dharker starrer Terrorist and Mani Ratnam's critically-acclaimed Kannathil Mutthamittal" were also on terrorism.

Sunny Deol too delivered an array of movies, including Jaal: The Trap and Jo Bole So Nihaal.
Other films on terrorism are , Sheen, Dhokha, Qayamat: City Under Threat, Hindustan Ki Kasam, Zameen, Pukar, Dus, Yahaan, Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota and December 16.
Britain based filmmaker Jagmohan Mundhra's Shoot At Sight and Pakistani director Shoaib Mansoor's controversial "Khuda Kay Liye" also brought back the memories of such attacks, showing terrorists attacking without any reason and causing casualties.

Ghai misses bus, yet again Yuvvraj Flops

You're as good or bad as your last Friday. And the last three Fridays in Subhash Ghai's life -- YAADEIN, KISNA, BLACK AND WHITE -- didn't yield fruitful results. Now YUVVRAAJ takes the number of failures from 3 to 4.

On paper, the package [Ghai, Anil, Salman, Katrina, Zayed, Mithun, A.R. Rahman, Gulzar] looks monumental. It's a prized project. But YUVVRAAJ has punctured the hopes of the industry further. The film is a non-performer.

How times change! Until a few years ago, a Subhash Ghai film would ensure a big opening at the box-office. Recall the thunderous start of VIDHAATA, KARMA, RAM LAKHAN, SAUDAGAR and KHAL-NAYAK. HERO too picked up dramatically after 2/3 weeks and emerged a money spinner. But the brand Subhash Ghai has lost its sheen, post YAADEIN.

Let's go back to two months before YUVVRAAJ released, when the promos were unveiled. It's often said that the promos are the deciding factor these days. Unfortunately, the promos never created the required buzz for the film. They were thanda, to put it bluntly. The quality of promos never improved, if you ask my opinion.

Note another factor that went against the film. It's vital to pitch the film to the youth when you begin promotions. Most distributors agree that the 16 to 30 age group constitutes the cinema-going audience today. Look at how Karan Johar smartly marketed DOSTANA. The plexes were packed with the young junta, collegians especially, from Show 1 onwards. YUVVRAAJ suffered, in my individualistic opinion, because it couldn't lure the youth. Even the talkie promotions depicting the three brothers didn't cut ice with the family audiences.

It has been noticed time and again that a film works magic if it's rich in merits. Ghai's HERO had a tepid start almost everywhere, when released almost 25 years ago, but it picked up dramatically after 2/3 weeks. YUVVRAAJ lacks that power, the grip, the magnetism.

Everything boils down to rupaiya, paisa, aana today. The box-office performance is of paramount importance if there's big money involved, you can't afford to slip. The theatrical business of YUVVRAAJ has been a downer. In the international markets too, the film has been rejected big time. And the revenue generated from Satellite, Home Video and Audio rights wouldn't be enough to recover the costs.

Ghai has missed the bus, yet again!

Kareena Kapoor New Hot Look In Kambakht Ishq

After garnering huge accolades for size zero in Tashan, slick beauty Kareena Kapoor is all set to wear a look look which is said to be inspired from Sarah Jessica Parker of “Sex And The City”. After Posh (size zero), it is now Parker’s look that Kareena is dieing to take up in her next flick titled Kambakht Ishq opposite Akshay Kumar.

To don Parker’s look was actually suggested to Kareena (Bebo) by her sister Karisma Kapoor (Lolo). Kareena is quoted as saying, “My looks in Kambakht Ishq will be something audiences have not seen before.

It is completely different from Tashan, Golmaal Returns and Jab We Met. I play a surgeon and a supermodel in Kambakht Ishq and my styling has been done keeping my character in mind. I always discuss my roles with Lolo and when I asked her about Kambakht Ishq, she told me to get inspiration from Sarah Jessica Parker’s look in Sex And The City. Lolo loves watching TV serials and Sarah’s cool, chic, glamorous and yet simple styles”.

Regarding her changing looks, Kareena said, “It is very important for an actor to keep changing his/her looks. It is a challenge to keep experimenting with your looks according to your role as Aamir and Shahrukh are doing. After my size zero look in Tashan it is a sexier, more real and natural look that I am going in for now for Kambakht Ishq and Rensil’s movie”.

People like Salman, but he likes me

She can't speak proper Hindi, but she sings Bollywood songs with ease. Asma Rafi, a contestant on music reality show "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009", floors everyone with her humorous antics and powerful performances, but praise by Salman Khan has her thrilled to bits.

"People love Salman Khan, but he likes me. What more can I ask for? I used to see his films on TV, but when I saw him in front of me, appreciating my singing, my dream came true, " 17-year-old Asma told over phone from Mumbai.

Asma is originally from Muscat, Oman, and met Salman and Katrina Kaif at a special episode of the talent show when both the actors appeared to promote their latest film "Yuvvraaj".

She sang "Chunari Chunari" from Salman's film "Biwi No.1" and the actor thoroughly enjoyed it.

Asma's mother tongue is Arabic, but she has dabbled in Hindi music to fulfil her father's dream.

"My dad is a big fan of Hindi songs. So when he saw that I sing well, he asked me to take interest in Bollywood songs. He wants me to be a playback singer in Hindi films.

"Initially I was apprehensive because I didn't know how to speak in Hindi. But my father has always supported me and been like a pillar of strength. He encouraged me so much that I participated in 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' competition in the Middle East and won it, " said Asma.

Asma has a nasal touch to her voice and says her Hindi diction is not very strong, making her a weak contestant compared to others.

"I am the weakest contestant on the show. My diction is my biggest disadvantage. I know that's my weak point as compared to other participants and that is why I get nervous. But I'm working hard to overcome the problem. I hope to improve, " she said.

Asma was eliminated from the show earlier, but she was such a favourite among the audiences and judges that she re-entered the show as a wild card entry.

Asma has also gained popularity because of her joke about making a film called "Mere Oont Ko Danda Kyun Maara" that would star all the Bollywood actors.

However, she feels that the joke should now end as it has carried on for too long now.

"The channel wanted everyone to be associated with some kind of joke. So I thought I'll start with this and people started enjoying it. But now I think we have done enough of it. But the channel still wants me to continue with it, " Asma said.

The vivacious girl, who is the only member from her family to enter a singing competition, was recently in the news following her parent's separation.

"My mother was not in favour of me entering this competition; hence she broke all ties with me and my father, " said a dejected Asma.

"I don't know why my mother is doing this. Sometimes when my dad calls, he tells me that my mother is filing a case on me. I feel terrible, " she added.
