SHOCKING !!! Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan Detained At in US - Newark Airport

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was detained for two hours for questioning at a U.S. airport before being released by immigration authorities

Shahrukh Khan said he was detained for questioning at a US airport because he has a Muslim name. Khan, known as the ‘King of Bollywood’, said he was questioned at Newark Airport in Newark, New Jersey, for two hours but was let go after the Indian embassy in the US intervened. “Khan is a Muslim name and I think the name is common on their checklist,”

Khan, one of the Indian film industry’s biggest stars, said he was detained because his name came up on a computer alert list at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, Press Trust of India news agency said.

“I told them I am a movie star,” Khan was quoted as saying.

The reported detention made top news on TV stations in India.

Khan said he was able to message a lawmaker in India who asked the Indian embassy in Washington to seek his release. Khan was let go after embassy officials intervened, the agency said.

India’s former ambassador to the United States Naresh Chandra on Saturday said that the detention of Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan at Newark International Airport for two hours, clearly exhibited the “ham-handed” approach of American security agencies.

He told ANI over phone that a formal complaint about this harassment should be reported to the US State Department.

Reacting to the incident, Ambassador Chandra said: ” The authorities should have taken maximum 10 -15 minutes for questioning Shahrukh, but it took two hours. It is great incompetence and has lowered the image of (US) Homeland Security”.

Sources said that Khan was indeed detained at the US airport and questioned for two hours. They said he was released only after Indian Officials intervened.

Sources here said that the Consulate General of New York was in touch with Shahrukh Khan and the matter has been taken up with the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.

According to sources, the Indian consulate could register a formal complaint against the security agencies involved in this “embarrassing” incident.

Some experts said that a formal complaint should be sent to the US envoy in Delhi.

Chandra, however, said that making it a big diplomatic issue would be counterproductive because the incident had nothing to do with US policy, but was the handiwork of lowly officers deployed at the airport. By Naveen Kapoor (ANI)

Kaminey : Movie Review by Taran Adarsh - IndiaFM

Dhan Te Nan. Vishal Bhardwaj pays homage to cinema of yore and that's reason enough to go out and grab tickets for one of the most keenly anticipated films of our times.

A few monsoons ago, Farah Khan paid homage to the cinema of 1970s with OM SHANTI OM. Now Bhardwaj picks up characters that we have witnessed on the Hindi screen before, but executes it like Tarantino and Guy Ritchie do. He creates a film that's so different from movies we've witnessed thus far.

Let's say, KAMINEY is bold, stark, funny and unpredictable and that's what works in its favour. There're two more reasons: Shahid Kapoor and of course, 'Dhan Te Nan'. Okay, we've seen Shahid pitching in a sincere act in his earlier films, but KAMINEY should catapult him to superstardom. His double role in KAMINEY is exemplary.

There's another star in KAMINEY and that's 'Dhan Te Nan'. Your heart starts beating faster every time you hear this in the background or also when Shahid breaks into the song. The track is as big a craze as 'Jumma Chumma' [HUM], 'Ek Do Teen' [TEZAAB] and 'Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai' [KHAL-NAYAK] and will contribute enormously in attracting viewers in hordes.
Having said that, I wish to add that KAMINEY is not the usual masala film. Sure, it's a well-made film, but there's no spoon feeding here. One has to be attentive, very attentive to grasp the goings-on and also the twists in the tale. It's not one of those lock-your-brains-at-home types, for sure. And that might not be too appealing a thought for those who swear by candyfloss or meaningless ha-ha-thons.

To cut it short, KAMINEY is a film with an attitude. Like it or leave it, but you'd never be able to ignore it. Word from the wise: Go for this hatke experience!

KAMINEY is about a pair of twin brothers, Charlie and Guddu [Shahid Kapoor]. Charlie lisps, while Guddu stammers. They are as different as chalk and cheese. And they can't stand the sight of each other. Till one fateful rainy night, their lives cross.

Charlie gets mixed up in a deathly get-rich-quick scheme, while Guddu realizes that the love of his life, Sweety [Priyanka Chopra], has unwittingly put a price on his head. The brothers are sucked into a world of drugs, guns and money. Their lives collide head on with the lives of gangsters, rebel soldiers, rogue politicians and crooked cops.

The brothers have to run to protect themselves, their dreams, their love. And most importantly, realize that all they have is each other.

It takes time to get used to the world Vishal Bhardwaj wants us to enter. The characters, the relationships, the lingo, the tone and the setting... frankly, you don't take to KAMINEY instantly. But twenty minutes into the film and things start falling in place. From thereon, you're drawn into a different world completely.

The interval point raises the bar and also the expectations. The story takes a dramatic turn at this juncture, but minutes before that, 'Dhan Te Nan' makes the proceedings exhilarating and stimulating.

Right from the sequence after the interval to the finale, Vishal Bhardwaj peels off layer after layer, which erupts like a volcano towards the end. The end is long drawn and with so many characters in the film, it only takes time to give a culmination to each of those characters. And that gets tedious. The violent end might not find universal acceptance. Vishal Bhardwaj proves that he's a master storyteller. KAMINEY is a damn difficult film to conceptualize and execute and Vishal does it with gusto. Besides the soundtrack ['Dhan Te Nan'], the effectual background score only enhances the impact. The dialogues, also penned by Vishal, are super. At places, clapworthy. Tassaduq Hussain's cinematography is top notch.

Shahid takes a really big leap with KAMINEY. Note how he handles the two characters, Guddu and Charlie, brilliantly. This film is a step to superstardom and also which will open new doors and vistas for him as an actor. Priyanka is first-rate. She's so much in sync with her character. Also, she gets the Maharashtrian accent perfect. Amole Gupte is outstanding. An incredible actor! Tenzing Nima and Chandan Roy Sanyal leave a solid impression. Shiv Subrahmanyam and Hrishikesh Joshi are perfect.

On the whole, KAMINEY lives up to the hype associated with it. The film has three stars - Vishal Bhardwaj [a name that's immensely respected by moviegoers], Shahid Kapoor and 'Dhan Te Nan' - and this combo as also the crooked characters and a genuinely hatke subject should guarantee ample footfalls in cineplexes even after its initial weekend. The weekend business should be huge due to the holidays all through the weekend: Friday [Janmashtami], Saturday [Independence Day] and Sunday. Of course, the business is bound to be affected in parts of Mumbai territory due to Swine Flu, but the film should take off in a big way when theatres re-open.

Asin: I didn't share the most intimate secrets with her on Facebook

Asin: I didn`t share the most intimate secrets with her on FacebookBy Subhash K Jha

“Hey There Asin_Thottumkal Is Using Twitter, ” declares the latest social networking website, and then goes on to give us gems like “I want to act in Tamil movie” from the actress.

There’s just one problem. Asin is not on Twitter…or any of the social networking websites. And she can’t laugh off the impersonations any longer.

Asin has a very serious problem. She has impersonators on all the major social-networking websites. “I was ready to overlook these fake IDs using my name as long as they weren’t harmful. But now the problem is getting out of hand.”

The other night a colleague had a whole long conversation with ‘Asin’ and called up the next day to share her excitement about what an intimate conversation they had.

“I nearly fell off my chair. I won’t name this actress. But she said we shared our most intimate secrets on Facebook. I nearly fell of my chair and asked her whom did she share her secrets with. Because it was most certainly not me.

Two days ago a journalist came to interview me and said she got all the information on me from what I had written on Twitter. For the record I’m not on any of the social-networking websites.

Apart from my own website I am not on the internet for any other purpose. I started blogging even before Aamir did in August 2005, ”Asin declares proudly.

Asin is aghast. “I was clubbed with Chetan Bhagat and Shashi Tharoor Asin and put on a social networking website. But I’m not on Orkut, Facebook or Twitter. Apparently there are lots of fake profiles.”

The lies about Asin don’t end at virtual reality. “It’s ages since I have had non-vegetarian food. For all practical purposes I’m a vegetarian. But I read this horrible report about how I love all kinds of exotic meats. I haven’t been approached by PETA. But that doesn’t mean I’ve to go the other way.”

Miscarriage: Aamir Khan and Kiran lose their baby

Miscarriage: Aamir Khan and Kiran lose their babyTragedy has struck the Khan household. Aamir Khan’s wife Kiran Rao has had a miscarriage due to which they have lost their baby.

Aamir had kept this tragic news hidden from everyone else for almost two months now. Finally revealing it in his latest blog entry, Aamir states, “I have bad news folks. Kiran and I lost our baby.

Despite our best efforts we were unable to avert a miscarriage. The last 2 months have been a struggle for us and that is one of the reasons I was absent from the blog in more ways than one.”

Aamir further adds that he and K (that is what he calls Kiran) need some more time to heal and he won’t be active on his blog for a while now.

We pray to god to help the couple overcomes their personal tragedy soon and give them lot of happiness.

Kiran who is Aamir’s second wife, had recently completed the shooting of her directorial debut film, Dhobi Ghat starring Aamir and Prateik Babbar in the lead. Its post production is in progress.

The first thing Rakhi and her fiance Elesh did was to face the media and answer the many questions India has about their future

Elesh, who is 30, said he needs time to set up his business in Mumbai as Rakhi isn't willing to move to Canada, where he is from. Elesh further said that till such time as his business in India takes off, he can't get married because he can't afford to support Rakhi financially till then. RGV creates panic to get noticed

Perhaps Ram Gopal Varma doesn't need to get noticed any more after he created panic by getting dummy dead bodies hung at 15 locations in Mumbai. And the unapologetic filmmaker says it was merely for more publicity for his supernatural thriller Agyaat.

"The whole thing was to create publicity. And this sort of an idea came up to garner publicity which represents the concept and context of the film. Now since Agyaat is a scary film - and has people dying - this was a good way to create that sort of an atmosphere," Varma said.

Varma and the creative team of UTV, which has co-produced the movie, planted the hoardings with the dummy Sunday night.

The dummies apparently had blood-like substance oozing out from their mouth - scaring the onlookers the next morning to no end. People gathered at the locations and even called police. Once policemen brought the dummy down, only then did everyone realise it was Varma's mischief.

The filmmaker, who has earlier made films like Bhoot and Phoonk, says this sort of publicity was chosen to stand out from the clutter.

"In today's time, all people are inundated with thousands of pieces of information - not necessarily film related. Media is constantly hammering the public with information. In that, to be able to stand out and to be noticed, you need to do something really unique. So, this hanging of dummies of dead bodies was part of that exercise," he said in an unapologetic tone.

Varma said a lot of logistics went behind facilitating this stunt.

"It's a thought process that the UTV marketing team started discussing. But then there were a lot of logistics to be kept in mind - how to make the bodies, how we would take them up the banners and whether or not they will look real. We even had a trial run for it a week back - it looked real and that's when we thought of going ahead," he said.

After narrating the process, Varma quipped: "Did you think I have gone mad?" and added: "Anything you do out of the box garners attention. It's okay."

"It would be a bizarre sight for anyone. Imagine you are traveling in a car and suddenly you see dead bodies hanging."

Agyaat tells the story of a film unit on a shoot in a dense forest where the crew members start getting killed one by one under mysterious circumstances by an invisible creature. The film stars actors like Gautam Rode, Priyanka Kothari and Nitin Reddy and will hit theatres this Friday

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar breaks records

The much-hyped finale of Rakhi Sawant's 'swayamvar' on NDTV Imagine gave the channel its highest Television Rating Points (TRPs) ever since its launch in January 2008.

The final episode of the show Rakhi Ka Swayamwar, which saw the item girl announcing Toronto-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala as her ideal groom, registered a TRP of 6.3 Sunday night. According to overnight audience measurement agency aMap, it has been the highest TRPs so far for the channel.

The finale came after over a month of putting 16 men to test their compatibility with the bride-to-be.

Three final contestants -- including Delhi-based Manas Katyal and Chhitiz Jain, apart from Elesh -- had come with their families for the swayamvar at the grand event held at The Leela Kempinsky hotel here.

The show was a success since beginning as even its pioneer episode, which aired June 29, recorded a 3.5 TRP - the highest ratings among all the previous launches of NDTV Imagine

Mika Singh, the popular singer, is one of the three new entrants on Iss jungle Se Mujhe Bachao.

While Rakhi is trying to find herself a suitor in Mumbai, Mika, after spending only
one day in the jungle was ready to reveal his deep dark secrets.

Not only that, Mika also probed Akashh on his relationship with Farah Khan but our bad boy chose to keep mum and instead
asked him about his infamous kiss-sa with Rakhi. Mika started with his side of the story and here’s what it was!

Mika had thrown a birthday bash, where he had actually invited Rakhi's boyfriend. But Rakhi tagged along with her boyfriend
and was being overfriendly with Mika. So much so that she smacked the birthday boy's face in front of his bodyguards.
Mika didn't appreciate this behavior and wanted to teach Rakhi a lesson. That is when an angry Mika kissed Rakhi...
and she left the party to only return after two hours with a whole bunch of people to fight...
the issue was stretched to such an extent that it reached the court. Mika wanted to
settle it but Rakhi was in no mood to do so. And the rest as we all know is history.
Aakashh says that Mika’s kiss made Rakhi popular otherwise who knew her before this.

Of course, we all know what the kiss did to her... that’s why her latest show had one of he suitors repeat history and
kiss her several times. Now Rakhi could not take him to court, so she got him eliminated instead.
We are sure Ms Rakhi Parujanwala will not appreciate this confession at all!
