What will SRK do if IPL fails?

Shah Rukh Khan, who owns an IPL cricket team, will give a year's time to the new venture and if doesn't work for him, it will back to films fulltime.

"It's not a winning business at this point in time..I won't be able to survive unlike other corporates in this business...So if it doesn't work for one year, then I'm back to basics...I'll be doing my films again," he said.

Khan, who has named his cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders, hoped that kids, who were his team's fans now, remained so even ten years later.

"I hope that kids who are 12 years old now and are Kolkata Knight Riders' fans (remain so) when they are 22. So, the whole idea is a long dream and I hope it gets fulfilled," he told a news channel.

Ranbir makes his ramp debut

Bollywood's latest teen heartthrob and the face of 'Youngistan' Ranbir Kapoor had yet another debut of sorts, last Saturday (March 29). The handsome actor, who impressed one and all with his acting prowess in Saawariya, took the ramp for the first time at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.

Ranbir, looking dapper in an ethnic 'sherwani', walked the ramp for his good friend -designer Arjun Khanna. The suave actor had family support too on his special day. Mom Neetu Singh and his lady love, Deepika Padukone cheered him loudly as he appeared on stage. But the moment of the show was when Ranbir gave an impromptu flying kiss towards his mom and Deepika.

Whether that flying kiss was for mommy dearest or his dream gal we'll keep mum and leave it to your imagination!!!

Saif hits the Bull's Eye!!!

Saif Ali Khan, the fourth Khan in the list has finally arrived!!

The macho man and Style Icon Saif has made it big in Bollywood with 'Race' and this probably has put the icing on the cake when it comes to the actor's long list of projects where he has time and again proved his versatility and that he is second to none!

Name it and the actor has done it!!

Whether it is the intense character in Ek Haseena Thi, the funny and adorable guy in Dil Chahta Hai, the angry man in Omkara, the confused character in Being Cyrus, the insecure lover in Parineeta, Saif has excelled in all the roles and this indeed speaks volumes for the actor's talent!

Noted trade analyst says, "The industry has always spoken of the three Khans when it spoke of star power — Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman. Then Hrithik Roshan made it to the premium list and also Akshay Kumar.

These five actors called the shots, commanded the best fee, while their films fetched incredible prices. Post RACE, Saif Ali Khan has joined the club".

Saif's talent has been accepted and acknowledged post his sparkling performances in earlier films, but Race has cemented his position as a star with tremendous following.

According to him, "Saif is the perfect combination of a stylish star and a versatile actor and has worked with the most diverse set of directors like Sriram Raghvan, to Kunal Kohli to Farhan Akhtar, Pradeep Sarkar to Homi Adajania to Abbas- Mustan".

Well, talking about the power-packed response that 'Race' has garnered, business reports have it that Race has captured a whopping Rs. 22 cr in just three days coming close to Om Shanti Om that had opened to that kind of massive collection. Further, Race is expected to garner 35-40 crore nett by this weekend.

Saif Ali Khan is now geared up for more action as the actor has a series of big banner films awaiting him.

The actor who has recently launched his production brand, Illumnati Films has been roped in by A-grade directors, Shriram Raghvan, Imtiaz Ali and Homi Adjania for their next ventures..

In fact Raghvan will soon embark on Agent Vinod that has Saif in the lead. Plus there's Karan Johar's untitled venture with Kareena.

Well, there's surely no stopping for Saif, as he aims to go higher and higher..

Ranbir: I've courage to reject

Well, the dead-drop handsome guy, Ranbir Kapoor has been in the news ever since his debut with 'Saawariya'.

With reports hitting media that the handsome is dating the gorgeous beauty, Deepika Padukone, the actor is surely set to kick off his own 'Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahaani'.. And yes, to top it all, this is the next movie that Ranbir has signed…

The actor surely has his feet on the ground and true to the RK style, he is ready to play the waiting game and do the best for his career.

With film offers flooding from all corners, Ranbir has had the courage and determination to reject the offers as he feels he needs to concentrate on the project in hand.

After rejecting offers like Rakeysh Mehra's Delhi 6 and the much-talked about Eros Entertainment venture Freeze, the actor feels, "I'm reading scripts. But I can't bring myself to say yes to offers just for the money or the set-up. My character has to appeal to me".

As of now, the tall lanky lad has signed just 2 films, one being 'Bachna Ae Haseenon' under Yashraj Banner opposite Bipasha Basu,Minissha Lamba and Ranbir's real love.

Deepika Padukone, and the other being Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani with Katrina Kaif.

Interestingly, Katrina was first offered a role in 'Bachna Ae Haseenon', but later was dropped. When asked about this, Ranbir with a smile says, "No regrets, as I am doing another film with her"…

Well, 'Bachna Ae Haseenon' as Ranbir Kapoor has finally arrived!!

'Shah Rukh is way above me'

Bollywood megastar of the eightees Mithun Chakraborty has bought Indian Cricket League's (ICL) Kolkata Tigers.

Talking to press, Mithun said, ''Yes, I have bought the Kolkata Tigers of the ICL. Tomorrow everything will be formally announced after completing some legal formalities.''

Asked why he took a plunge, the 'veteran actor said, ''I have always been a sports lover and had organised the Raj Kapoor Trophy in Chembur, Mumbai, for several years where big stars played. But it was not just passion that made me buy the team; there is business in it also.''

''I am an entertainer and Twenty20 is a fantastic form of entertainment. There is craze and good business in it. So I decided to try my luck,'' he added.

Asked how much he had spent on the team, he said, ''At present I cannot reveal the figure, but it certainly is a triple digit in crores.''

On whether he had really asked to rechristen the side as Bengal Tigers, he said, ''I have strongly recommended it. Kolkata is the capital of Bengal, but my side will represent all the people of the state. I have fans in every corner of the state and can't deny them.''

On what made him go for a team in ICL and not IPL, Mithun replied, ''The realisation that I could even own a team and make it into a profitable business venture dawned late on me.''

So will it be Mithun-Shah rukh competition to win the hearts of Bengal, he said, ''There is no question of competing with Shah Rukh.

He is one of the finest gentlemen I have come across and he gives a lot of respect to his co-stars. Besides, you can't compare our popularity. He is way above me.''

On whether his Bengal Tigers would imbibe his fighting mentality, pat came the karate king's reply, ''Undoubtedly so. Life has never been a bed of roses for me.''

Celina abused by Pak Cricketers!!!

This certainly isn't cricket. On Sunday when Celina Jaitley was invited to perform at the Indian Cricket League's match between Pakistan and India, she had what could be termed an encounter with abusive guests from across the border.

Celina had finished her performance and was taking what she calls a "glory round" with her security personnel around the stadium, when she heard loud abuses in Hindi coming out of the players' enclosure.

"At first I couldn't believe where it was coming from. I still want to give them the benefit of the doubt because it's so hard to believe they could behave this way," she says with a shudder, recalling how she wanted to rush back to her car and drive away from the nightmare.

"But I couldn't because the security guys wouldn't let me pass. So I was stuck listening to myself being described in the most colourful language."

Celina refuses to lay the blame on anyone for the abusive incident. But she does admit that she recognizes the Pakistani players because she had participated in a tv interview with them for a sports channel.

"But what hurts and offends me more is the fact that people from our own country have chosen to speak on behalf of those who abused me. As they say, I am 'just another Bollywood actress' Fine. Does that mean I don't command even the respect that other woman get?"

All in all it hasn't been a very pleasant Easter and Holi weekend for Celina.

"I attended my producer Kumar Mangatji's Holi bash on Saturday and then having ensured that I wasn't required for shooting on Sunday I left for Delhi for the ICL, tired and irritable. I had no clue what was waiting for me.

And to top it all, I had observed Lent this Easter and was very weak and depleted. This wasn't what I expected."

'Race' zooms to success

The dry spell has ended, there were thunder showers this weekend. Post JODHAA AKBAR, the last few weeks saw business sliding downwards. The low turnout at the box-office wasn't surprising, since the movies that released in the interim period lacked the power to attract footfalls at cineplexes. But RACE has been a soothing balm, a big push, a film that has infused oxygen in the lungs of the industry.

Released on a massive scale, the film didn't open to a thunderous start in the early morning shows [pre-Holi phase is always dull], but the business showed a dramatic jump from noon shows onwards on Friday itself. Every producer/distributor dreams of a holiday-filled weekend and if the film has the content to mesmerize the viewers, phir kya kehne? RACE has the quality.

With Friday, Saturday and Sunday being holidays, the numbers on the first three days were huge, not just in India, but also in the international markets. But let's stick to the domestic box-office here.

A section of the industry feels that RACE is expected to fare exceptionally well at 'A' class centres and also at multiplexes. I endorse this viewpoint completely. But there's no need to raise eyebrows. Today, if you ask any trader, he'll tell you that's where the big booty is. The bigger centres, the multiplex boom, the inflated ticket rates, the 16-18-20 shows a day [in this case, 22-24] has only helped the business to grow by leaps and bounds. Of course, the merits of a film counts the maximum, else the film falls like a pack of cards on Day 1 itself.

RACE has found tremendous appreciation from all quarters, with the youth taking to the film in a big way. Monday did see a drop, but it wasn't alarming as such [the occupancy was in the range of 45%-50% +], while Tuesday showed a rise again. That's become a trend again, with films carrying favorable reports showing an upward trend on Tuesday.

As thing stand today, notwithstanding the huge price paid by UTV to Tips for the global rights of the film, RACE is a success story at the ticket window. 2008 has indeed been a glorious year for UTV; the company first tasted [big] success in JODHAA AKBAR. With RACE, the corporate entity has only cemented its status further

Saif is 24-hour entertainment

Contrary to rumours Akshaye Khanna isn't unhappy with his role nor the promos in Abbas-Mustan's Race.

"Where do these things start from?" Akshaye laughs heartily. "I've been in Bangkok for almost a month now shooting for my friend Anil Kapoor's Shortcut.

We're going to be in Bangkok until 20 April. This is the last schedule. We'll finish the film and return. So where was the time to come home for Race?

I really enjoy working with Saif. He's 24-hour entertainment. A joke-a-minute pal. And after Dil Chahta Hai he's really blossoming me as an actor."

But isn't Saif moody like Akshaye? "I've never seen Saif's moody side. Am I moody? Honestly it was a reputation well-earned at the beginning of my career. But now no longer applicable.

Everyone is entitled to their highs and lows. I'm not temperamental. I get annoyed easily. But I don't get angry easily."

And right now Akshaye sitting in Bangkok is far from angry. "Race has had a smash-hit opening. It's got a bigger opening than Anil Kapoor's other release Welcome. Mine is a very effective role.

My character is the karta-dharta (the mover-shaker) of the script. Abbas-Mustan had earlier cast me as negative character in Humraaz. I enjoy being wicked.

Such roles are fun to play. And fun to watch. When I had heard the script of Humraaz I told Abbas-Mustan, 'Boss I'm the hero, though conventionally I'm the villain but my character is the most entertaining.' Sure enough people came out of Humraaz wishing me not to die."

Akshaye goes into a wicked rewind. " If you look at the history of great screen villains, for example Anthony Hopkins in The Silence Of The Lambs audiences don't want them to die in the film.

So many people have told me they didn't want me to die in Race. That's a very positive sign about my negative roles."

Akshaye can't stop glowing over the way Race has been received. "Abbas-Mustan really know how to use me well…so for that matter does Anil Kapoor.

I enjoy shooting Shortcut and Gandhi My Father for Anil as much as the films of Abbas-Mustan. I wouldn't give up either. There's a greater likelihood of people watching Race than Gandhi My Father.

But no one can tell what would work, what wouldn't. I'm really proud of that film. No other film has given me what Gandhi My Father has. And it will continue to make me proud."

Aamir Khan at the Olympics Torch Relay

Coca-Cola India recently announced torchbearers for the Olympic Torch Relay and present among them was Aamir Khan.

The six torchbearers were from diverse fields like Cinema, Government, Corporate house, NGO, Science and grassroots. The criteria of selection involved short listing luminaries, who besides having excelled in their respective fields should have also demonstrated commitment to the cause of environment stewardship and Aamir was asked to represent Cinema.

Aamir who is also Coca-Cola's brand ambassador said, “I am delighted to be a part of the Olympic Torch Relay. This truly is a rare privilege and an absolute honor. What makes this feeling even more special is that it has given me the opportunity to be associated with the world's greatest sporting event and at the same time also raise awareness to the cause of the environment. On behalf of Coca-Cola, I am delighted to announce the roll out of the company's latest environment awareness initiative. The countrywide program includes organizing painting competitions in schools on the theme “The Need To Protect Environment”. The initiative would involve thousands of students across India.”

All the selected environmental champions would run with the Olympic Torch as part of the worldwide Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. In the month of March 2008, the Olympic Torch Relay began its round-the-world tour that includes one-day relay in Delhi. This would be the largest Relay in the history of the Olympic Games, covering approximately 137,000 kilometers (85,128 miles) over a span of 130 days and traveling to all five continents represented by the Olympic Rings.

I'm ready for Ranbir: Bipasha

What's with Bipasha Basu and period films? They never seem to come together.

Five years ago Bipasha was actually supposed to start her career with a Mughal costume drama J. P. Dutta's Aakhri Mughal opposite Abhishek Bachchan. The project never took off.

Her newest period project is Raj Kumar Santoshi's Ashok.

Bipasha is hopeful that Ashok will take off on schedule. "I'm really excited about doing the costume drama. To go back in time and recreate an era and character are challenging.

And the character of Tishayraksha is certainly not uni-dimensional. I'm in the entire film. The narrative is so captivating.

I think Raj Santoshi is a great visionary. Look at the performances he gets out of his actors! And to cast someone like me who otherwise has such a contemporary image in the Mauryan era requires guts. "

Ashok is Bipasha's only chance so far to do costume drama. Earlier there was Rituparno Ghosh's Draupadi where the director was very keen to cast Bipasha as the fabled queen of the pandavas.

Sighs Bipasha, "Madhur Bhandarkar, Rituparno Ghosh, Raj Santoshi… these are women's directors I've always wanted to work with. I've worked with two of them. Now hopefully I'll be working with the third. "

Incidentally Rituparno Ghosh's Sab Charitra Kalpunik needn't have been Bipasha's first Bengali film. A few years ago she was offered Buddhdeb Dasgupta's Kaal Purush

"Yes," Bipasha recalls the project. "But you've to be in-sync with the person you work with. And I don't know much about the Bengali film industry. With Ritu the comfort level has grown over time. Speaking Bengali wasn't a problem, though I think in English and not in Bengali. "

Another costume drama on the anvil is Ben Kingsley's Taj Mahal project.

Bipasha sighs, "Again that will take some time. It's again an exciting film. I'll be transported into another era. My entire body language has to change.

I'm looking forward to working with Ben. He has been around for decades, doing so many kinds of amazing films. In person, he's so wonderful.

I met him for the first time when we happened to be on the same flight once. He's so full of life, so much fun. He made me roll with laughter.

There's never a serious moment when he's around. It's so uncanny that we both were hosting a Taj Mahal project (The 7 Wonders) in Lisbon when he talked about doing a Taj Mahal film with me. "

Says Bipasha, "I'm dying to go back in time. For now I'm doing only one film. And that's very very modern. The new Yashraj production directed by Siddharth Anand with Ranbir Kapoor.

Though there are other leading ladies in the film believe me, I'm confident I'll be very strongly noticed. Every segment with different girls is very interesting. "

Deepika & Ranbir in Bangkok!

Suddenly Bangkok beckons Bollywood bigtime. Half the film industry is currently stationed in the State Of Sin, though for work rather than pleasure.

First of all, the 4 As….Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao have been in Bangkok for a month shooting for Neera Vora's Shortcut.

Another A-star Akshay Kumar is also in Bangkok with his pretty co-star Deepika Padukone shooting for Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk To China.

Contrary to reports Ranbir Kapoor flew to Bangkok on Friday not to join Deepika but for a photosession for Filmfare magazine.

Bangkok, in fact, is currently the hottest spot not only for film shooting but also other glam-related events.

Priyanka Chopra flew to Bangkok last week to do an ad with Saif Ali Khan.

"It was touch-and-go because I had to wrap up the ad then rush back to Mumbai and then rush to Miami for Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana. But the rush was worth it because I always like going to Bangkok for holidays and work."

Sammir Dattani who's holidaying in Bangkok and Pataya with his friends, ran into several colleagues from the industry.

"The entire industry seemed to be there, either holidaying or working. And why not? Bangkok is a fun spot and at the same time very work-oriented. I shot for my comedy Dhoom Dhadaka in Bangkok. Now I'm back here for holiday."

Sammir sees more and more of Bollywood making a beeline for Bangkok this year, and never mind if Nagesh Kukunoor's Bombay To Bangkok was a big thud.

Emraan forced to kiss in Jannat

If Emraan had his way Jannat would remain smooch-free. "But then my director Kunal Singh got greedy," he says with a twinkle in his eyes. "He first persuaded me to do one kiss, then another." Emraan who turned 29 on March 24 was quite sick and tired of kissing…and cutting cakes.

"I had already cut four cakes post-midnight, the first one of course with my wife", he rattles off dutifully. "Then my friends had dropped in and we had a private get-together. The next morning I was on the sets and doing it all over again. I can't say I don't enjoy all the attention on my birthday. But if I really had one wish granted on my birthday it would have to be…no shooting! Sadly, that's what I'm doing today," Emraan cribbed from the sets of his new film Jannat. "The film is over. Just needed some patchwork. I enjoy working. But not at a time when I'm wanted by family and friends."

Jannat is the film about match-fixing where Emraan plays a bookie. "Though the film is inspired by real -life incidents in the cricketing world, we've covered our bases well. We don't want real-life figures from cricket to identify themselves in the film and create trouble in Jannat. So, ironically in a film based on true-life incidents we've consciously steered away from getting too close to reality for comfort."

Though real-life cricketers play the field in Jannat, they aren't modelled on any real cricketers. Does Emraan get on the field at all? "Actually I don't like cricket at all. Don't play it and hardly ever watch it. Fortunately, I play a bookie. So I don't have to play in Jannat, he mumbles sheepishly like a brat boy who hasn't done his homework.

Emraan is all praise for his costar Sonal Chauhan. "She's totally new. The 14th girl to be launched with me. I don't know how many ladies Mr. Rishi Kapoor launched in his heydays. But I'm getting there."

Emraan shivers when he remembers the uncanny resemblance between Bob Woolmer and the actor who plays him in Jannat. "When I saw the actor Richard Burton I froze. He looks so much like Bob. And on top of that they turned out to be close friends. Not me, I’d say Richard is the perfectly cast actor in Jannat."

Saif climbs the ladder

The industry always spoke of the three Khans when it spoke of star power -- Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman. Then Hrithik Roshan made it to the premium list and also Akshay Kumar. These five actors called the shots, commanded the best fee, while their films fetched incredible prices. Post RACE, Saif Ali Khan has joined the club.

Saif's talent was acknowledged long back; the actor has delivered sparkling performances in films like KAL HO NAA HO, EK HASINA THI, HUM TUM, SALAAM | NAMASTE, BEING CYRUS, OMKARA and EKLAVYA. But RACE has consolidated and cemented his status as a star with tremendous pull.

Although Saif is yet to penetrate into deeper pockets like SRK or Akshay, Saif is a certified crowd puller at bigger centres and at multiplexes specifically. Also, he has worked his way up in the Overseas territory. RACE, his new release, is his second biggest opener in several international markets, after KAL HO NAA HO [this writer has the international data to substantiate the statement]. Way to go!

King Khan back to his old romantic ways

Shahrukh and romance, the combination is magical, synonymous with success. There are debates about who is the best actor in the country, the most serious, the most talented and the most consistent, but when it comes to the most romantic there is no debate, SRK is the undisputed King of romance and when he romances, millions of

hearts sing along. Yes, last year was a pleasant deviation with Chak De India’s sportsman Kabir Khan and Om Shanthi Om’s funny antics and theatrics but in 2008 SRK returns to where he belongs, after all it is romance that made him a star.

This year he is back with the man who gave us Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge. Yes, Aditya Chopra is all set to return to his first love, direction and he has roped in his favorite. The SRK-Aditya team will bring to us Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. The title says it all, this will be another typical Yashraj-Shahrukh combination romance where everyone is good at heart, there is no villain, if there is any it is only destiny and the ending is always happy and no doubt the excitement can already be felt as the first official still of the movie was released- just a smiling SRK, nothing over the top. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya find Sonam Kapoor has been confirmed as SRK’s pair. Great expectations.

Katrina dethrones Aishwarya!

She has the beauty, the oomph and the body to get the hearts of men beat faster! Yes, we are talking of the gorgeous lass, Katrina Kaif, who with her bright eyes, fabulous figure, silky hair and great attitude just wows every single man on earth.

It gets tough to resist when such a beauty is before you, and yes, we are talking of the phenomenal pictures available on net of this ravishing beauty!

Well, to set records straight, according to a survey conducted by IMI mobiles, Katrina Kaif's pictures are the only ones to be most downloaded amongst all other Bollywood actresses.

What if you cannot feel her before you, what if you cannot experience her grace face-to-face, a picture of Katrina is all that one requires to set foot on the 'Dreamland'!!

A surprise isn't it that Katrina Kaif has managed to dethrone Aishwarya who lags behind in the download race. To note, among the pictures of men, it is Shahrukh Khan who heads the list of the most downloaded.

Aamir makes peace with Big B

Earlier this week the most celebrated celebrity-coldwar ended when Aamir Khan sportingly dropped in for a casual conversation thereby ending the 3-month long deadlock between the two that was triggered off when Aamir who made news twice over this week by tonsuring his head and making peace with the Big B, made some uncharitable remarks about the Big B's prized film Black.

Confirming the unexpected development, Mr Bachchan said, "Yes Aamir did come to meet me. He was shooting nextdoor at Mehboob Studios. And he dropped in to say hi. As simple as that."

When asked how their meeting went the Big B laughed and said, "Oh grow up.It was just a normal thing that we all do when colleagues are shooting together. he has been over to the house at Jalsa several times.

He came home recently to pay his condolences when my mother passed away and again for the chautha. And then to invite us to see his film Tare Zameen Par."

The Big and family will now reciprocate Aamir's peace gesture. " I'm waiting for all my family members to be in town so we can see Aamir's film.

Right now Jaya is attending parliament. Abhishek is in Miami Ash too will be away. Once we're all together we'll watch Aamir'a film."

Thus ends the Black phase of Bollywood.

SRK ropes in Bappi Lahiri, Preity shoots her music video

With less than a month to go for the biggest cricketing extravaganza - IPL, the franchisees are leaving no stone unturned to create maximum awareness for their respective teams.

King Khan recently held press conferences in Mumbai and Kolkata for his team Kolkata Knight Riders where he unveiled the logo, the theme song (composed by Vishal-Shekhar) and in the process had a field-day with the media. We had even earlier informed you of Preity Zinta having roped in Sajid- Wajid and Daler Mehndi for her team song. In fact last week, even the Bangalore Royal Challengers, owned by Dr. Vijay Mallya had announced their plans for an ad and a promotional video which would feature Rahul Dravid along with Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone.

Now it seems like the promotion isn't enough for the teams. News has it that Shah Rukh Khan has apparently approached veteran music composer Bappi Lahiri to compose some more songs for his team. Bappi would be composing three songs which would be sung by him, Usha Uthup, and a Bengali band called Bhoomi. The songs would be recorded some time next week and you never know King Khan may himself croon some lines.

Meanwhile, Preity Zinta recently shot for her music video for her Mohali team. The video is made under Preity's company called P Zinta Film World and is directed by ad filmmaker Ram Madhvani who recently directed the 'Bheja Kam' track for Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Par. The music of the video has a Punjabi flavor with Bhangra King Daler Mehndi lending his vocals and Sajid- Wajid (Partner, Welcome) composing the music.

Well seems like right now, cricket seems to be on top of the mind for some of our top Bollywood stars.

'Boys will be Boys'. What say Rakhi!!!

They say that 'A rose by any other name remains a Rose'. Likewise, Bollywood's original item girl: Rakhi Sawant, by any other name ('Dramebaaz, Nautanki, Drama Queen etc…) remains 'The' Rakhi Sawant by all means!

After having made news (and still continuing to do so) with her item number in Rakesh Roshan's Krazzy 4, where she takes on the likes of none other than SRK and Hrithik (who also have an item number each in the film), this 'bindaas' girl has been roped in for yet another item number in the Vikram Bhatt's horror flick 1920, which is being produced by Surendra Sharma of ASA Films Ltd. The film stars newcomers Rajneesh Duggal and Adah Sharma. The song is called 'Bichhua' and the track has been sung by Shubha Mudgal to Adnan Sami's music.

Speaking about the song, Rakhi thanked God (assumingly 'Jesus' and 'Ganpati') for her Krazzy 4's song and Rakesh Roshan, that she got a chance to work in 1920. She also added that 1920 is a dark thriller with her as the only colorful thing in it!

The song's costume designer Reza Shariffi told Bollywood Hungama, "Rakhi's look in the song is that of a typical Rajasthani, which is sensually Indianised! And that it's for the first time that Rakhi has worn a totally traditional garment with the 1920's feel."

Frankly speaking, we at Bollywood Hungama, are running short of words when it comes to presume the audience's (specially the frontbenchers) reaction to 'Bichhua'. All that we can say is that, be it '1920' or 2008, one thing is for sure that 'Boys will be Boys'. What say Rakhi!!!

Star Studded Race Premiere

Aamir Khan with his new look for Ghajini was the star attraction at the premiere of Abbas Mastan's Race. The evening was power packed with excitement. Must Watch!

I'm doing it for Sallu:Kareena

On Tuesday, Kareena who's been on a vertiginous high since the release of Jab We Met finally starting shooting a new film at Film City at the outskirts of Mumbai.

Nervous like a debutante Kareena said, "Although we've done Priyadarshan's Kyun Ki before, I always get nervous working with Salman. He was my sister's heroine long before we were paired together. And now to be doing a film with him."

The two were destined to serenade immortality in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani. But the film never happened. Kareena was also signed for Salman Khan's home production My Punjabi Nikaah. That never happened either.

Kareena chuckles in disbelief. "Our new film Main Aur Mrs Khanna is an intensely romantic film. I don't think Salman has done a a pure love story like this before. Neither have I. Sohail is also in the film."

Interestingly this is the first time in her distinguished career that Kareena will be working with a debutant director Prem Soni.

"He's very talented. It wouldn't matter even if he wasn't. I'm doing it for Salman," says Kareena emotionally.

Raghuvaran passes away

Raghuvaran (49) the noted character actor of Tamil cinema passed away early this morning at a private hospital in Chetpet, Chennai, due to a cardiac arrest. The actor was married to actress Rohini, but the marriage failed and they went through a messy divorce. The couple has an 8-year-old son Nanda.

Raghuvaran's claim to fame was his stylized way of acting and his dialogue delivery. He had a huge following among the masses. He stole the thunder whenever he played the villain with the swagger and with the way he drawled on his dialogues. Right from his first film Ezhavathu Manithan(1982), he created his own acting style.

But it was in the role of the villain in commercial Tamil cinema that he shone in, especially when he was paired with the superstar Rajinikanth in Baasha, Muthu, Arunachalam etc. He was the Superstar's favourite as he excelled in the role of the bad man in his films. The Superstar knew that unless the villain is given equal importance as the hero, his character will not become popular with the masses.

Raghuvaran has acted in over 100 films in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi films and has been praised as a natural actor. Most of his roles were of a villain or supporting actor. He has also acted as hero in a few movies, which did not do well at the box-office.

He became famous with his role as the protagonist of a Tamil soap opera, "Oru Manidhanin Kadhai" (One Man's Story), about a well-to-do man who becomes an alcoholic and faces the consequent difficulties.

Unfortunately, in real life too, he is known for his controversial drug addiction. His family split on this regard, and he has also undergone deaddiction courses.

But Raghuvaran was a very colourful person. His last release was Jayaraj's Silanerangalil (Feb 29, 2008) where he played a negative character.

Kim Sharma and Vidya Malavade at an event

Race Releasing On March 21: Preview

Ranvir (Saif Ali Khan) and Rajiv (Akshaye Khanna) are half brothers who own a huge stud farm in Durban, South Africa. They breed horses on their huge ranch house and are also the biggest bookies in the horse racing circuit.

Ranvir the elder of the two is known to be a very shrewd man. He is very aggressive, and is always on the move. His half brother Rajiv on the other hand is very laid back, and is also a chronic alcoholic.

Sophia (Katrina Kaif) is Ranvir's personal secretary. She adores her boss and loves him. Ranvir is totally unaware of her feeling and regards her adoration as her efficiency.

Shaina (Bipasha Basu) is an upcoming Indian ramp model in Durban. She and Ranvir share a very beautiful relationship, which is just on the borderline of love.

R.D. (Anil Kapoor) is a flamboyant police detective who lives by his wits. He has a strange addiction to fruits. He provides the film with witty humor and a very intriguing murder investigation.

Mini (Sameera Raddy) is R.D's personal assistant. She is as dumb as a blonde can be, in spite of being a brunette.

Shaina loves Ranvir but through a twist of fate gets married to his younger brother Rajiv. When she discovers that Rajiv is a chronic alcoholic, her world is shattered.

Ranvir too is disturbed as he has sacrificed his love for his younger brother because Rajiv had promised him that if he gets married to Shaina, he will leave alcohol forever.

Rajiv after getting married breaks his promise and the story starts getting complicated. In a weak moment Ranvir and Shaina come very close to each other, and an affair starts between the younger brother's wife and the elder brother.

When the younger brother starts suspecting his wife, all hell breaks loose.

A murder is committed, a contract killing is issued, double crossings become the order of the day, betrayals are executed at the blink of an eye, and a point comes where you cannot pick the good from the bad, the evil from the righteous and the tame from the wild.

A sharp tongued detective R.D., getting wise on the proceedings, starts an intriguing investigation with his brainless bimbo assistant Mini, and the story starts to move at a breakneck speed, full of unexpected twists and turns making the climax of the movie impossible to predict. A back drop of horse racing, the beautiful locales of Durban and edge of the seat excitement are the crux of Race.
